GuardianTV Live is a free, browser-based IPTV player. It does two things: it streams a curated catalogue of 7,856 verified free-to-air live TV channels from 175 countries, and it plays any M3U or M3U8 playlist you supply. No app, no account, no cost.

It exists because watching live TV on the web is needlessly awkward. Most free IPTV sites are link farms wrapped in pop-ups, and most channel lists are 80% dead. We wanted the opposite: a fast, clean, dark-mode player where every listed channel actually plays.

How we make money — and why that matters to you

We are upfront about this: the free player is a shop window. It carries no adverts, no pop-ups, no affiliate links and no cross-site tracking. Instead, it is funded by GuardianTV subscriptions, and it points you towards a free 12-hour trial of the paid service.

That model has a useful consequence for you: because we are not selling your attention to advertisers, there is no incentive to slow the page down, harvest your data or wall the player behind a signup. The free product only works as advertising if it is genuinely good.

How the channel catalogue is built

Our free catalogue is derived from the open-source IPTV Nexus project, which aggregates publicly listed free-to-air streams and scores each one for health. We take that data, filter it to channels that are currently online, non-adult and scoring above 50/100, and rebuild the site every six hours.

That is why the list here is short compared to sites claiming “30,000 free channels”. We only list streams that responded to a health check. A directory of dead links helps nobody.

What we don’t do
