Privacy Policy

How GuardianTV Live handles your data. No advertising cookies, no viewing profiles, no account required, and the playlists you load are never stored. Analytics runs only with your consent.

GuardianTV Live ("we", "us") is operated by Guardian & Company Ltd (company no. 09198512, registered in England & Wales). This policy explains what data we handle when you use https://guardiantv.live.

The short version: we do not require an account, we set no advertising cookies, we build no viewing profile, and we do not store the playlists you load. We use Google Analytics for page-visit counts, and only with your consent.

What we collect

Information you give us

Nothing is required to use this site. There is no signup, no login and no profile.

If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we hold that correspondence and the contact details you used, so we can reply and keep a support history.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider records standard server logs for every request: IP address, timestamp, requested URL, HTTP status, referring page and user agent. These are used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults, and are retained for a limited period before deletion.

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to count page visits and understand which pages are useful. It runs with Consent Mode v2 denied by default, so no analytics cookie is set and no identifier is sent unless you press Accept on the banner. IP anonymisation is enabled, and advertising features and data sharing are switched off.

Information we deliberately do not collect

  • We do not build viewing profiles or record which channels you watch.
  • We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal data with data brokers.
  • We do not use fingerprinting to identify returning visitors.

Playlists and streams

If you load an M3U or M3U8 playlist into the player, it is parsed by JavaScript in your browser. The playlist content is not uploaded to us and not stored.

Some streams cannot be played directly by a browser because the source sends no cross-origin headers or serves over plain HTTP. In those cases the media is relayed through our server so playback can proceed. During a relay we handle only the media bytes in transit; we do not record which stream was requested against any identifier, and nothing is written to persistent storage.

Streams are served by their original publishers, not by us. Those third parties may apply their own logging, entirely outside our control.

Cookies and local storage

We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

The site writes a small number of values to your browser's local storage — for example, whether you dismissed the promotional bar. These stay on your device, are never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

  • Legitimate interests — server logs for security, abuse prevention and fault diagnosis.
  • Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries you initiate.
  • Consent — Google Analytics, and any other non-essential storage on your device. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any right, email support@guardiantv.net. We respond within 30 days.

Because we hold almost no personal data — no accounts, no viewing history — most requests are answered simply by confirming that nothing is held.

Data retention

  • Server logs: a limited period for security and diagnostics, then deleted.
  • Support correspondence: retained while needed to provide support and meet legal obligations.
  • Google Analytics data (only if you consented): retained for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Playlists, stream URLs and viewing activity: never retained.

International transfers

Our infrastructure and CDN operate globally, so requests may be served from outside the UK or EEA. Where personal data is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are relied upon.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. Free-to-air channels are filtered to exclude adult-rated sources, but we cannot guarantee the content of third-party broadcasts. Parents should supervise use.

The site links to third parties including guardiantv.net, broadcasters' own websites, and the open-source IPTV Nexus project. Their privacy practices are their own; please read their policies.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above, and the current version always governs.
