Terms of Service

The terms governing your use of GuardianTV Live — what the service is, what it isn't, acceptable use, and the limits of our liability.

Last updated

Effective 4 August 2026

These terms govern your use of https://guardiantv.live ("the Service"), operated by Guardian & Company Ltd (company no. 09198512, registered in England & Wales). By using the Service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

GuardianTV Live is a free, browser-based media player. It performs two functions:

  1. It indexes and plays publicly listed free-to-air live television streams aggregated from open sources.
  2. It plays M3U and M3U8 playlists that you supply.

We host no video content. All media plays from third-party servers operated by their original publishers. We store no streams, recordings or copies of any broadcast.

2. What the Service is not

  • It is not a broadcaster and holds no broadcasting rights.
  • It does not provide access to encrypted or subscription-only channels.
  • It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any broadcaster listed.
  • It does not guarantee that any particular channel is available at any time.

Channel names and logos are the trade marks of their respective owners and appear for identification only.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service unlawfully or in breach of any applicable regulation.
  • Use it to access content you are not entitled to access in your jurisdiction.
  • Attempt to circumvent geographic or technical restrictions applied by broadcasters.
  • Scrape, mirror or systematically extract the catalogue except through our documented public API within reasonable limits.
  • Use automated tools to place unreasonable load on our servers.
  • Use the relay endpoint as a general-purpose proxy for non-media traffic.
  • Reverse engineer, interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service.

We may restrict or withdraw access where these terms are breached.

4. Availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Free-to-air streams are published by third parties and may become unavailable without notice. We give no uptime guarantee for the Service or any listed stream, and may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.

5. Your responsibilities in your jurisdiction

Broadcasting and copyright law differs by country. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service is lawful where you are. In the United Kingdom, watching or recording live television requires a valid TV Licence regardless of how it is delivered.

The Service links to third-party sites including guardiantv.net, broadcasters' websites and the open-source IPTV Nexus project. We are not responsible for their content, policies or practices.

7. Intellectual property

The Service's design, code, text and branding are owned by Guardian & Company Ltd and protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may not copy, reproduce or create derivative works without written permission.

Broadcast content remains the property of its rights holders.

If you believe content is listed in breach of your rights, follow the procedure on our DMCA page. Valid notices are actioned promptly.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of harmful components.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Guardian & Company Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Guardian & Company Ltd against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the Service.

12. Third-party services

GuardianTV, the subscription IPTV service at guardiantv.net, is a separate commercial product with its own terms, pricing and refund policy. These terms do not govern it.

13. Changes

We may amend these terms. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. The effective date above indicates the current version.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that consumers may bring proceedings in their country of residence where local law requires.
